Ariel Dorfman
Ariel Dorfman, a supporter of Salvador Allende, was forced into exile after the 1973 U.S.-backed coup in Chile. He is the author of "How to Read Donald Duck" and "The Empire's Old Clothes," both nonfiction; the novels "Widows," "The Last Song of Manuel Sendero" and "Mascara," and "Last Waltz in Santiago and Other Poems of Exile and Disappearance." His articles appear in "The New Yok Times, " "The Nation" and "The Village Voice." He teaches at Duke University in North Carolina.
