When it comes to Iraq and sanctions, "moving the goal posts is the name of the game," says Middle East expert Phyllis Bennis. Sanctions have resulted in hundreds of thousands deaths due to lack of proper nutrition, medicine and clean water. In this program David Barsamian interviews Bennis and Halliday on a range of topics, including the history of U.S.-Iraq relations, the politics of sanctions, Halliday's decision to resign and good Kurds and bad Kurds.

She's the author of "Before & After: U.S. Foreign Policy and the September 11th Crisis" and "Calling the Shots: How Washington Dominates Today's UN." Her latest books are "Understanding the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict" and "Challenging Empire."
