Fascism did not end with Hitler's suicide in his Berlin bunker. In the immediate aftermath of the Second World War, the U.S. recruited and protected Nazi war criminals. It was all part of the emerging Cold War conflict. The unseemly alliances yielded some very unsavory consequences with effects still evident today in the revival of fascism in new guises and forms.
