U.S. Interventions: A History of Excuses
Program #PARM037. Recorded in Los Angeles, CA on May 18, 1995.
U.S. intervention. Michael Parenti states, “A lot of people don’t know that there is such a thing. i.e. “the forceful violent intervening in the affairs of other countries. The U.S. has been the greatest interventionist force in the post-war era.” Washington has backed “some of the most notorious military autocracies in history;” “Over the last five decades the U.S. national security state has actively participated in overthrowing democratically-elected reformist, populist governments in many countries.” He then enumerates the list of some of the countries targeted by the U.S. It is all “a matter of public record and history but is rarely taught or mentioned in the mainstream media.” This program is the perfect tonic to those who believe the fairy tales about the noble pretexts of U.S. foreign policy. Americans, the ruling class believes, must be insulated from what their country is doing.
