Democracy, Dissent and Disobedience
Program #ZINH003. Recorded in Madison, WI on December 01, 1988.
A classic Zinn lecture with Q&A. Introduced by Alfred McCoy, Zinn gives the Harvey Goldberg lecture. Goldberg, who died in 1987, was a legendary University of Wisconsin-Madison history professor. Zinn connects the 3 Ds - democracy, dissent and disobedience. He talks about what happens to galvanize people to form movements and struggle for justice. He presciently says, "It's a rather sick economy and might degenerate and collapse." And advises, "We should consider the general economic injustice as a good basis to change society and make it a better world."
