Carolyn Forché
Carolyn Forché is an American poet, editor and human rights advocate. Among her many books are: Gathering the Tribes, The Country Between Us and Against Forgetting: Twentieth Century Poetry of Witness. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Lannan Literary Award for Poetry. Her memoir is The Horse on Our Balcony. She is a noted translator with books published on the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish and Claribel Alegria. She has taught at major universities and colleges all over the U.S.
