Yevgeny Yevtushenko

Yevgeny Yevtushenko was among the first Russian poets to speak out against Stalinism, anti-Semitism, and establishment bureaucracy. His poems “Babi Yar” and “Fuku” represented victorious public skirmishes in the war against censorship. Yevtushenko was also a novelist, essayist, dramatist, screenwriter, actor, editor, and director of several films. He passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2017.
