Corporate Accounting vs. Corporate Accountability
Mega-corporations now dominate the international economy. This development, under the rubric of globalization, is heralded by the White House, Wall Street, and the media. They say it’s a good thing. Villagers in poor Third World countries get the opportunity to earn and improve their lives. Critics contend that not only are those villagers exploited but that corporations weaken democracy, undermine workers and unions and threaten the environment.
