Citizen Power

Program #DANK001. Recorded in Denver, CO on November 07, 1997.

Transnational corporations are, in some instances, bigger and more powerful than nations. Free trade agreements have enhanced corporate power while undermining the ability of workers to defend their jobs. However, all over the world people are organizing and resisting. The shape and contours of that struggle will determine the global economy in the 21st century.

Speaker(s):

Kevin Danaher

Kevin Danaher was co-founder and public education director of Global Exchange, the San Francisco-based non-profit organization that led the campaign that exposed Nike's use of sweatshop labor and promotes grassroots, citizen-oriented efforts in international trade. He is the author of Corporations Are Gonna Get Your Mama, 50 Years Is Enough, Globalize This!, and Democratizing the Global Economy.
