The Politics of the Christian Right
The Christian Right is a growing social force. It has built an extensive network of media and cultural institutions and has moved—in a major way—into politics. In some states, it dominates the Republican Party. As part of a grassroots campaign, the Christian Right has targeted electoral races ranging from school boards to Congress. It has emerged as a significant factor in the presidential race. In advancing its theocratic agenda the Christian Right clearly poses challenges for the future of secular democracy.
