Energy, Environment and the Media
Daniel Schorr looks at how the media are able and unable to direct public attention to energy and environmental issues. Schorr traces the changes that have occurred in media coverage of and public interest and concern in conservation, oil, pollution, etc. He also discusses the domestic political climate which like the global one has undergone significant shifts.
Daniel Schorr was the last of Edward R. Murrow’s legendary CBS News team. He covered Europe and the Soviet Union in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1972 he was CBS’ chief Watergate correspondent. His reporting on the scandal earned him three Emmy Awards. He joined National Public Radio in the mid-1980s. He was Senior News Analyst for NPR until his death at the age of 93 on July 23, 2010.
