Why Are We In Iraq?
The U.S. attack on Iraq is a defining event of this era. Why was it done? What was the haste? We now know from Bush Administration officials Paul O’Neill and Richard Clarke that Iraq was a target before September 11. Neocon ideologues like Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz drove the policy to launch a war on a country that was not threatening the U.S.. The orchestrated attempts to link Iraq with September 11 and Al Qaeda have proven to be 100% false. The weapons it supposedly had which were an imminent threat to the U.S. are non-existent. This is now described as an “intelligence failure.” There was no intelligence failure. Bush and the people around him have had Iraq in their gun sights for years.
