The Endangered Species Act is a lightning rod for political attack and the symbolic centerpiece of efforts to dismantle U.S. environmental law. Despite tough odds, proponents of species conservation have scored some victories: California condors, black-footed ferrets in Wyoming, the current project to reintroduce wolves to Yellowstone National Park.
